Photo Story Friday | He's going to be a Method Actor!
Harrison started out his Halloween festivities at his Awana Club this year. He was told to dress up as his favorite Bible Hero. I asked him who he wanted to be; thinking Moses, King David, Noah... even, maybe, Job.
"Jesus" he answered.
"Oh-K."
And like that, I had my first costume-making challenge. Not one of my strong suits...
Fast forward one week, Harrison tests out his costume; lovingly, sloppily sewn by Mom.
That serious look on his face? It's his "Jesus" look.
Did you know he walks on water, too?
Or in this case, the Big Blue Blanket.
The day of the event we hopped into the car and headed down the street as the sun is setting.
"Look at how beautiful the sunset is tonight!" I say.
He proudly responds, ""I made that."
I look at him. "Remember mommy... I AM Jesus."
How could I forget.

Almost Wordless Wednesday - He's Going to be an Architect!
Harrison received some wooden blocks from his teacher late last Fall and within a few weeks he was consumed with them. Almost immediately he started building up.
At a Christmas party he discovered a bucket of blocks; but with all the small children he couldn't build without another little hand swooping in an knocking down his handiwork. Toward the end of the evening after the kids had thinned out, he began building once again. The hostess was so impressed by his building skills that she insisted Harrison borrow the blocks until her son grew into them.
The next morning he immediately got to the business of executing the building designs envisioned in his head.
Which included a plethora of smaller towers scattered about the floor that he referred to "chocolate factories" after watching Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
But it didn't end there...
He also built some Superhero hideouts - specifically Ironman's house. Not that he has even seen Ironman either in movie or cartoon form...
That didn't stop him though.
It seems he has a lot of design plans and plenty of space to carry them out.
Maybe we should call him Bob the Builder...He can do it!
Yes. I watch too much of the Disney Channel.
Find fewer words over here.

The Daddy Files - Maybe He'll Be a Biker When He Grows Up
I made a quick trip to the library the other day to return some books while Harrison was finishing off his nap. the GID is sick now too and I wanted to get back quickly. I was gone for a about half and an hour; long enough for H. to wake up, get his diaper changed and, well...
What does happen when the sick husband is left in charge of the child??
I was greeted at the door with, "Mommy! Look my arms colored! I love my colored arms!"
What could I do? He was SO proud at the work of his hand; I burst out laughing and got the camera! We then scrubbed down and took an early bath. Thank goodness for Washable Markers!

The G.I.D. came flying out of the office at the squeal of Harrison's delight.
Ya think?

Exihibit B: Is he a biker at heart? Oh dear.

"I thought it seems too quiet out here..."

"Awe, look, he's going to be a Car Wash Attendant"

The GID makes these predictions often, I believe it's to curtail the possibility of Harrison actually taking on one of these occupations he announces.
Harrison puts trash in the trash can and runs to the window for each passing garbage truck:
Oh, he's going to be a garbage man.
Harrison sweeps or mops the floor:
Look! He's going to be a janitor...
He's going to be a street cleaner...a maintenance man, a vacuum cleaner salesman, a window washer, a dishwasher....
the list goes on.
Last week's occupation? It all started when the GID washed Duke-the-Dog. Well Harrison helped out up until he spotted his sandbox out of the corner of his eye and found that to be so much more compelling. Done.
A day later, Harrison yells at me from outside.
Outside?
Wait. How..?
Dog Door.
So I look out the window to find Harrison wiping his car with a towel as he exclaims, "I'm washing car. Mommy. I'm washing car!" What a perfect time to step it up! I got some soapy water & a sponge and he went to town!
Later, as the GID browses through pictures of the day, he announces:
Awe look! He's going to be a Car Wash Attendant!
The truth?
Our child is a multi-talented genius.
Of course.

And yes,he truly
was
this
TEDIOUS
about cleaning
his
car!
