Theme Thursday - Three is a Magic Number..

The magic of play.

I actually have found myself taking pictures of the most odd things since the stork brought Harrison along. Like toys, and ceiling fixtures and other obscure items to document Harry in pictures. One of my recent favorites - his "munder-mut" boat. Translation - Wonder Pets. In his eyes, the boat is perfect stand-in to fly or pull around the house singing, "Munder muts, munder muts. on. way! Save. a mamal. make the day! Yeaaah!!" The little gremlins aren't quite a guinea pig, turtle and chick, but he makes due.
I love this picture because it looks like it came from a magazine (IMHO) until one looks closer & sees the baby wipes sticking out of the basket in the background.
One word - PhotoShop!

Okay, so technically it's two words...

Below Harrison is watching, what else? Wonder Pets. Could be worse.
(Could be better - the TV could be off!!)

And in celebration of the theme this week, enjoy a little video courtesy of School House Rock, because after all, it rocks!!

Okay, now for more fun, head over to Tracey at Picture This to see more of Thursday's theme - Three!

As for ceiling fixtures, well, when Harry looked like this...

He LOVED to stare at this.

From this point of view.

Especially at night before bedtime, he would arch backwards in my arms and hang there to look at it as I sang "Mr. Sandman".
Then we moved...

Best Shot Monday - Mega Madness

After a long busy week, H. did some unwinding - literally. He ran around in circles with a megaphone on his head, unfortunately, I missed the initial moments but he willingly stopped, looked at me and proclaimed, "I'm happy, Happy! Happy! Happy!" and continued in a new rendition of the "happy dance" ala megaphone style.

Catch more great moments over at Picture This! (I have a button!) In the mean time, we're just crazy about Harry!...

Thank you, thank you very much...

Harrison has left the building.

Can I bring home the bacon & fry it up it the pan?

Apparently not.

Since I've been working full time, I haven’t had much time to share anything here, let alone cook a gourmet meal for my family - bacon or not. My house is a mess, my desk is piled high with papers, clean laundry is piled on the dresser, the windows, my car and the dog need to be washed, (have I mentioned the toy cars everywhere?) And although I know that H. has been his cute little adorable self and well worth bragging about (save for those few moments when "hands are not for hitting") I have just been too tired to retain it in my brain. Wait, isn’t that why I started this blog; to make it easier to record his early days and not have to retain every moment in my brain? Oh well…

One small moment: H. started a class by himself this week while I work in the office. He had absolutely NO transitional problems at all. Moreover, as soon as we set foot inside the building, he ran off to his classroom, madly waving his hand backwards, calling, “Bye mommy! See you, mommy!”

Although at the end of the day I had to bribe him out of there! Yes, bribe him, I know - bad mommy - with a hand full of pretzel twists (well actually it was two pretzels, which issue after he ate them and wanted more) but I was tired and wanted to go home! Heck, we had been there for 7 hours – that’s a long day for a 2-year-old with no sleep. Let alone his mom.
I think he wants to move into his school.

I guess I should go clean something...

Happy Labor Day!

Well believe it or not, H. finally had his first soft serve ice cream cone. At least to my knowledge... who knows what fun he and daddy have together when I'm not around!

We took a walk on the pier, counted sailboats and enjoyed a drum circle then headed home with a stop for ice cream. A perfect end to a perfect day.

Next on the evening's agenda - BATH TIME!

Best Shot Monday - Bubbles!!

I love the days where we just spend a few hours in the backyard playing. Saturday was one such day, we just never got motivated to go on an adventure in the car or on the bicycle, so out to the backyard we went for some bubble fun!

And if you want to see more than Harrison's world, well head on over to Picture This for other Best Shot Monday pictures, it's always fun to see what other people are snapping!

Here are some additional shots from our most recent backyard bubble day.

I love the shadows of the bubbles in this last picture...

It's James!! Toot! Toot!

Yes James came home this week. 10 weeks, 4 days and, well, I didn't count the hours, later he arrived at our door in a little nondescript manila envelope while Harrison napped. I was overwhelmed with excitement, this was it, I wouldn't have to hear the question "Mommy, Where, James?" ever again! I must have been delusional that day...

So when Harrison woke up I rushed upstairs, scooped him from his restful wonderland and whisked his downstairs telling him how he got a package in the mail. Before he knew it, the GID, big brother and I were hovering over him as I thrust the envelope in his face (some of us were more excited for ourselves- I think) he opened the package and pulled out a tissue-wrapped James and whispered in a still-sleepy voice, "YEAH!" For the last week he has carried it around with him, sleeping with it, eating with it and even taking it in the car for a ride - when we weren't looking. And yes, asking, "Where James?" A question that has now taken us to new heights in tearing through the house looking for the little red friend.

"Mommy, where, James?"

Gosh, hmm, I don't know Harry, did you check outside on the porch where you left it for mommy to trip on and almost break a leg doing laundry?

I didn't think so.

Harrison.

What Mommy.

I love you.

I nummu, mommy.

Never Ever Share! - sponges soak up a lot, part 3

So my two-year-old doesn't share willingly ALL the time, go figure! That’s pretty standard for 2-year-olds. After all, there are rules, ya know.
But where 2-year-olds don’t understand the concept of sharing, 4-year-olds can’t conceive why 2-year-olds won’t share… As demonstrated recently at a dear friend’s house.
Harrison was on a play date for the afternoon (okay, my girlfriend was watching him for me), he had latched on to a little wooden airplane and did’t want her 4-year-old son to play with it, let alone look at it. His 2-year-old mind didn't consider that it wasn't his toy to begin with!(the rules) Finally, my friend’s son ran up to her and said, “Harrison never ever shares!” Shortly after, Harrison began to run in circles yelling, “Never ever share! Never ever share!” I think he understands the rules…

Rules of the Toddler
1. If I like it, it's mine.
2. If it's in my hand, it's mine.
3. If I can take it from you, it's mine.
4. If I had it a little while ago, it's mine.
5. If it's mine, it must never appear to be yours in any way.
6. If I'm doing or building something, all the pieces are mine.
7. If it looks just like mine, it's mine.
8. If I think it's mine, it's mine

Post Script:
Fortunately, he didn't retain, "Never ever share" in his growing compilation of phrases, but "Mine!" has become quite predominate lately! I blame it on Finding Nemo.
