Never Ever Share! - sponges soak up a lot, part 3

So my two-year-old doesn't share willingly ALL the time, go figure! That’s pretty standard for 2-year-olds. After all, there are rules, ya know.
But where 2-year-olds don’t understand the concept of sharing, 4-year-olds can’t conceive why 2-year-olds won’t share… As demonstrated recently at a dear friend’s house.
Harrison was on a play date for the afternoon (okay, my girlfriend was watching him for me), he had latched on to a little wooden airplane and did’t want her 4-year-old son to play with it, let alone look at it. His 2-year-old mind didn't consider that it wasn't his toy to begin with!(the rules) Finally, my friend’s son ran up to her and said, “Harrison never ever shares!” Shortly after, Harrison began to run in circles yelling, “Never ever share! Never ever share!” I think he understands the rules…

Rules of the Toddler
1. If I like it, it's mine.
2. If it's in my hand, it's mine.
3. If I can take it from you, it's mine.
4. If I had it a little while ago, it's mine.
5. If it's mine, it must never appear to be yours in any way.
6. If I'm doing or building something, all the pieces are mine.
7. If it looks just like mine, it's mine.
8. If I think it's mine, it's mine

Post Script:
Fortunately, he didn't retain, "Never ever share" in his growing compilation of phrases, but "Mine!" has become quite predominate lately! I blame it on Finding Nemo.

Ah yes! The toddler rules! sharing is a hard concept for our little ones. After all, they think the entire world should revolve around them!

Thanks for stopping by my blog and your kind comments. :o)
